Fine Balance

Fine Balance
One more time stepping across a border line
And walking like a tightrope walker
I’ve got a fine balance to maintain
Here I go again gonna keep my eyes wide open this time
Late night talking on a telephone line
Bring your stories home to me
Conversations that serve to stoke a fire
That’s already burning brightly
If you could see my eyes
You’d see how much you make them shine
Here I go again
One more time.
One more time stepping across a border line
And walking like I’m walking on a tight wire
I’ve got a fine balance to maintain
Here I go again gonna keep my eyes wide open this time
I’ve come a long way on my own
I’ve got so much I want to share
When I grow tired of being alone
My time it starts to wear upon me
It’s going to take a while to reconcile
The life you lead with that of mine
It’s gonna take time
It’s gonna take some time stepping across each others border lines
And walking like we’re tight rope walkers
With a fine balance to maintain
Here we go again gonna keep our eyes wide open this time
There are no maps to lead us here
We’re in uncharted territory
Gonna have to be each others mirror
Gonna have to write a whole new story
But if love will see us through
That’s not so much for us to do
Gotta take some time stepping across each others border lines
And walking like we’re walking on a tight wire
With a fine balance to maintain
Here we go again gonna keep our eyes wide open this time
One more time stepping across a border line
and walking like a tight rope walker
I got a fine balance to maintain
Gonna keep my eyes wide open.

Casual Encounter - Terry Morrison copyright
Casual encounter
You know that’s what it’s called
When two people come together
But they don’t allow themselves to fall
Shared looks shared bodies is that all
You know I don’t think so
It’s never that simple
When two people come together
There’s a little piece that stays
And a little piece that goes
Take you and me boy
You know we live in different towns
But we struck a chord together
And now it lingers around
Was it just a casual encounter
Or sharing common ground
We may never meet again
But the time might come around
When we’re walking down the same street
In the same town
Sometimes it’s lonely living life on the road
Traveling town to town that’s our story
So many places different faces only hoping to find
Some familiar, familiar territory
Was it just a casual encounter
The time that we shared
Or something with both needed
Brought us together there
Might have been the laughter or the good conversation
The magic in the air
When we made love by the full moonlight
Stayed up talking half the night
We may never meet again
But the time might come around
When we’re walking down the same street
In the same town
We might never meet again
Oh the time might come around
When we’re walking down the same street
In the same town

Take Me Down

Take Me Down © Terry Morrison
Take me down
Lay my body on the ground
Let the sun warm my skin
Here and now both welcome in
I learned to stand just so I might learn to fall
Now here I am overwhelmed by it all
This is me with my furrowed brow and my ties that bind
And my truth that echoes now and then within my lines
Make me whole
Take my soul and lift it up
My outstretched hand
Balances an empty cup
Hear my song this is my own call to prayer
While on my knees I have brought all I can bear
This is me with my furrowed brow and my ties that bind
And my truth that echoes now and then within my lines
Comfort doesn’t find me easily
My outward calm belies a sense of peace
Take my words and roll them ‘round on your own tongue
Understand how easily they come undone
Like a babe surrenders to its’ mother’s hand
All of me that’s all you see from where I stand
This is me with my furrowed brow and my ties that bind
And my truth that echoes now and then within my lines
This is me with my furrowed brow and my ties that bind
And my truth that echoes now and then within my lines

Waiting for the Harvest

Waiting For The Harvest © Terry Morrison
These fields of gold with their bounties untold
What do they all hold
I’ve been waiting for the harvest to come in
I’ve been waiting for the harvest to be brought in
I’ve been waiting for the harvest to begin
This piece of land
This place where I stand
Turned by my own hand
And now I’m waiting for the harvest to come in
I’ve been waiting for the harvest to be brought in
I’ve been waiting for the harvest to come in
Like a stone that’s been rounded by the river
Like a shore that’s been pounded by the sea
Like this story goes on forever
That’s how my life shapes me
All of the years
The blood sweat and tears
The laughter and the fear
From waiting for the harvest to come in
From waiting for the harvest to be brought in
From waiting for the harvest to begin
Like a stone that’s been rounded by the river
Like a shore that’s been pounded by the sea
Like this story goes on forever
That’s how my life shapes me
Well in my hand I hold the ace
And these lines upon my face
They are my riches and my grace
From waiting for the harvest to come in
Waiting for the harvest to be brought in
From waiting for the harvest to come in
From waiting for the harvest to be brought in

Winter Storm

Winter Storm © Terry Morrison
It’s raining pouring down
I feel like some lost dreamer in a one horse town
Sitting on the edge of nowhere
With an empty heart and a silent prayer
Even though my eyes are dry
I still feel a sadness but I don’t know why
If angels really are the guides
I hope one comes to find me
Cause there’s a dark river that flows inside of me
There’s this deep emotion and that’s longing to be free
A door that’s ready to swing open
But I’m still searching for the key
I been waiting for an angel to guide me
Well I’ve been lost and I’ve been found
I had my whole world turned upside down
And I tried looking in and looking around
Still I don’t know me
And even though it don’t really matter
What it is that makes things bad or better
There’s sometimes I can’t help but wonder
Why life goes up or love goes under
Long gone the summers and the dog day afternoons
With so much heat and so much passion
And howling at the moon
Maybe it’s just another winter storm
Who knows which way the wind might blow
It’d be nice to have someone to keep me warm
At least have someplace warm to go
The gray skies they cloud the moon
Though no stars come into view
Still you might hear me singing this tune
Starlight star bright first star that I see tonight
I wish I may
From where I stand things ain’t wrong
But they ain’t right
The promised land still lies in sight
I stumble through my daytimes
To tumble into night
I’ve been waiting for an angel to come into sight
